An international law firm with a particularly strong reputation for innovation is looking for a proactive Research & Current Awareness Advisor to join its global Research & Business Intelligence function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a great opportunity for an information professional from legal or wider professional services to contribute to a highly respected team and to work at the intersection of legal research and current awareness. The position can be based in either London or Glasgow, and offers a hybrid working pattern where staff are typically on site 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality research (business and legal) across a wide range of practice areas and sectors.
- Lead and maintain current awareness activity, ensuring colleagues are kept informed of key legal, regulatory, and market-wide developments.
- C curate, refine, and distribute insights in ways that support lawyers and business services teams.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the firm, building strong relationships with users, subject specialists, IT teams, and external suppliers.
- Explore and utilise emerging technologies including generative AI and digital tools.
- Contribute to global knowledge-sharing initiatives within a collaborative, supportive team and spanning multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications
- A professional qualification in Information Science or a related discipline. Additional qualifications in law, library science, or knowledge management are a bonus.
- Previous experience in legal research, current awareness, or a similar information-focused role within a law firm, legal environment, or wider professional services setting.
- Strong familiarity with legal and business research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, Practical Law and wider business research resources.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams including subject experts, IT, suppliers, and end users.
- An interest in digital tools and generative AI, with the curiosity and capability to apply new technologies to enhance current awareness delivery.
