A leading global provider of professional legal and business services is seeking an experienced Information Manager to lead and develop an established information services team supporting a major law firm client.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior information professional with strong legal research expertise, leadership capability, and commercial awareness to play a key role in delivering high-quality research and information services within a fast-paced legal environment.
Leadership- Lead and manage a high-performing Information Services team, including Senior Information Officers and Information Officers.
- Provide line management, mentoring, and performance management to team members.
- Support professional development and maintain high service standards across the team.
- Act as a key point of contact for the client, maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Manage workflows, contribute to service strategy, and provide reporting on team performance and service delivery.
- Liaise regularly with the client regarding operational delivery, team activity, and service improvements.
- Deliver complex and high-level legal research across a broad range of practice areas.
- Support and guide the team in responding to research enquiries and maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor enquiry trends and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Manage the annual information services budget and track resource utilisation and spend.
- Review, evaluate, and pilot new research databases, tools, and modules.
- Lead or support commercial discussions with information vendors, including licence reviews, contract negotiations, and procurement activities.
- Lead or support projects aimed at improving services, processes, and research capabilities.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for service development and innovation.
- Promote the information service internally and encourage engagement with end users and key stakeholders.
- Minimum six years' experience in Information Services, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
- Strong experience conducting advanced legal research and responding to complex research enquiries.
- Extensive knowledge of major legal research platforms and information resources.
- Demonstrated team leadership or line management experience.
- Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, including partners and senior management within law firms.
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, and database procurement.
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in an information-related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CILIP Chartership) is desirable.
