A Research Analyst is required by an international law firm to support the provision of a research service that supports the firm's business development activities and wider strategic objectives. This role involves joining a small but specialist team and acting as the first point of contact for all research and insight requests. The position is responsible for providing insight and analysis, distilling information into a digestible format, and working on both reactive requests and a pre-determined research agenda. It is ideally suited to someone with some existing experience who is keen to develop their research and insight skills further.

Principal responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all competitive and tactical research requests.
  • Collaborate with senior team members, lawyers, and stakeholders to define research briefs.
  • Collect, disseminate, and distil information from various sources into a digestible format, adding value through insight.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about progress and timelines.
  • Maintain quality standards in outputs and deliverables.
  • Handle both reactive research requests and proactive, agenda-driven research.
  • Work in partnership with multiple business functions, including business development and the Library/Information Services team.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Previous experience in a research or analysis role, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • Ability to gather information from multiple sources and distil it into actionable insights.
  • Capacity to understand the perspective of the requester and tailor outputs accordingly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, with interactions likely involving Partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with industry-standard research databases and tools.
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly.
  • Preferably, a related degree such as information management/science or a research-related field.
