Why this role exists

We are entering a major transformation: new brand, new values, new leadership expectations and new ways of working. This is our biggest year yet, and this role exists to turn those ambitions into reality through our people.

Role purpose

You will partner with the Chief of Staff and People Team on priority initiatives, and then lead the in-business delivery of those changes: embedding new values and behaviours, landing leadership programmes, scaling capability through Train-the-Trainer models and supporting managers to unlock the potential of their team. You will spend significant time in the business with leaders and teams testing approaches, running pilots, adjusting in real time and closing the gap between intent and execution.

Reports to: Chief of Staff

Contract Type: FTC (12 Months)

Location: Richmond UK, Hybrid

The role in a nutshell

This is not a traditional Learning & Development role. As our Culture & Learning Lead, you are the red thread connecting our strategic goals to our people’s daily reality. You are the delivery engine for this people-led transformation. You will build the learning roadmap, translate strategy into practical interventions, run them in the business, and stay close until they are deeply embedded in how we hire, onboard, develop, manage performance and lead. You are someone who operates at pace, prioritising the changes that matter most and working to deploy solutions where they will drive the biggest impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be expected to diagnose the highest impact priorities and personally lead their execution in the business, focusing on measurable behaviour change.
  • You’ll partner closely with managers and leaders, hearing what is being said but more importantly, spotting what isn’t, and using those insights to coach and upskill.
  • You will lead the rollout of our new values, behaviours, and leadership expectations across the business.
  • Execute practical capability sprints inside teams through workshops, pilots, and manager forums to embed new ways of working.
  • Observe adoption in real operating forums and step in directly where change is not landing or a leadership friction/gap is identified.
  • Work with the People Team to diagnose barriers to performance and co-design targeted responses.
  • Identify gaps or emerging needs in the business and propose rapid, test-and-scale solutions.
  • Lead the deployment of the leadership and manager programmes, ensuring the learning translates into changed decisions and habits.
  • Scale capability: Build and run our 'Train-the-Trainer' communities to scale high-quality, 'always-on' delivery through a group of internal experts.
  • Act as a critical partner to leaders, helping them understand how their behaviours align (or conflict) with our new values and performance standards.
  • Partner with the People Team to embed new expectations into onboarding, performance, talent, and succession processes.
  • Support leaders through new performance rituals and ways of working, coaching them in real time and ensuring the performance framework is seen as an opportunity for growth, not an administrative burden.
  • Ensure new joiners experience the culture from day one through practical, in-business onboarding experiences, making every new hire an advocate for our brand and set up to succeed.

Things you’ll own

  • The in-business rollout of values, behaviours, and leadership expectations.
  • You’ll work to scale the Manager Programme and Train-the-Trainer model.
  • Design and execute a 12-month company-wide learning strategy and calendar aligned with our culture shift.
  • Lead the design and facilitation of leadership and manager offsites.
  • Delivery of priority culture and capability initiatives linked to our culture transition plans.
  • Feedback loops with the CoS and People Team on what is landing, what is not and what needs to change.

What success looks like

  • Leaders are consistently role-modeling new values and behaviours.
  • Managers are demonstrably stronger at leading performance and change.
  • Priority programmes are adopted at pace and embedded into business-as-usual (BAU).
  • Impact is measured through visible shifts in behaviour, leadership conversations and ways of working, not through volume of activity or generic training metrics.
  • The business moves faster because ways of working are clearer and capability is higher.
  • The business sees you as a critical partner who accelerates impact.
  • This role operates with clear access to, and trust from, the Leadership Team. You have licence to challenge, coach and intervene in real time, with active backing from the Chief of Staff.
  • This is a build role. You will design what is needed for this moment, knowing that not everything will be permanent, but what you create should be strong enough to outlast you.

What you’ve done before

  • Led major change or transformation initiatives inside fast-moving organisations.
  • Embedded new behaviours, performance systems or leadership expectations at scale.
  • Worked closely with HR / People Teams to design and facilitate interventions into the business.
  • Operated comfortably in ambiguous, pressured environments.
  • Balanced central direction with local delivery realities.

Who you are

  • You’re the "Magician": You have the rare ability to see the red thread across the business and connect a shift in brand strategy to a specific training need in the middle management layer.
  • You are deeply intuitive: You are an expert at reading dynamics. You know when a team is struggling before they do, and you have the coaching toolkit to help them navigate it.
  • You’re a designer, not just a deliverer: You do not wait for a syllabus. You look at the data and dynamics and you build the intervention that is needed.
  • You’re influential & direct: You are comfortable challenging senior leaders and holding them accountable to the new culture and values we are building.
  • You’re tech-curious: You see AI not as a threat, but as a tool to unlock human potential, and you’re excited to test, learn and show others how to use it.

At MOTORS & Cazoo, we’re fearlessly committed to helping car buyers and dealers save time, money, and energy. If you’re ready to challenge the status quo, give it your all, and come out smiling, you’ll fit right in. You can expect a fast pace, plenty of support and a commitment to work flexibility. Are you ready?

We offer a supportive, flexible, and growth-focused workplace. At Motors you will have a healthy work-life balance, continuous learning, remote work options, and engaging challenges. Join us for a fulfilling career where your well-being is a priority.
