About the role: This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining our main Risk database and workflows—ensuring robust structures, referential integrity, and optimal performance. Additionally, the role includes building Tableau reports and dashboards, translating data into clear visualisations to support the Risk team.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Risk team to develop and refine reporting and analytics requirements
  • Design and implement efficient database schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
  • Identifying and resolve data integrity issues
  • Managing the reporting and analytics platforms to ensure that reporting jobs are successfully run
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying slow queries, indexing strategies, and query plans
  • Build and maintain database-driven reports, dashboards, and analytics using Tableau
  • Design, maintain, enhance ETL processes for all aspects of the firm's positions, trades and pricing information
  • Ensure regular database maintenance, including backups, recovery processes, and routine integrity checks
  • Implement database security best practices, including user permissions and roles
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of code, database structures, processes, and best practices
  • Industrialise and maintain risk system feeds and workflows
  • Take ownership of a small subset of raw data reporting requirements to external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years working extensively with SQL Server databases (T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions)
  • Experience using Python for scripting database tasks, automating workflows, data extraction, and transformation processes
  • Proven experience designing normalised and optimised relational database schemas
  • Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting database performance issues
  • Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL processes using tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or custom scripts
  • Familiarity with Tableau or similar tools for reporting and data visualisation
  • Experience in database maintenance tasks, backups, restores, security management, and disaster recovery
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, including developers, analysts, and business teams, to gather requirements and deliver database solutions
  • Displays and operates at the highest degree of ethics and integrity
