This role is located in NRM, within the Cawood Scientific Agriculture Division. NRM, part of the Cawood Scientific Group, are the UK’s largest independent provider of agronomic and environmental waste analysis for land-based industries. We offer water, soil, manures, fertilisers and plant tissue analysis to farmers, growers and agronomists for improved farm productivity, as well as land-based environmental services including composted waste, anaerobic digestate, effluents and industrial renewables. Job Description:

This is an entry level position with no prior experience required as training, including manual handling, will be provided. Experience working in a busy environment is preferred. This role involves some heavy lifting.

Core Role

Working as part of the wider Soil Department, the main role of a Soil Technician is to organise samples when they are first received at the site ahead of booking in, preparation and analysis.

  1. Open received samples, dry, prepare and extract for analysis
  2. Unload and move heavy batches of samples around the laboratory and site
  3. Work with safety and compliance at the heart of all processes
  4. Use specialist equipment as part of the sample preparation process
  5. Communicate effectively with other departments and occasionally customers
  6. Maintain equipment and working environment as required

Suitable candidates will also have enthusiasm, energy, and strong communication skills.
