Role Summary
We are seeking a capable and experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality construction projects in London across a variety of sectors including Education, Arts, Leisure, Retail, Health, Residential, and Industrial. Reporting to the Contracts Manager or Project Manager, the Site Manager will oversee all site-based activity, ensuring the safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of the build. The successful candidate will also manage and lead the site team and sub-contractors, delegating responsibilities appropriately to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and control of the project from design stage to handover.
- Oversee day-to-day operations on site, ensuring programme, budget, and quality targets are met.
- Monitor progress and liaise regularly with the Contracts/Project Manager to manage programme updates and resolve delays.
- Plan and organise site logistics and facilities, ensuring plant and equipment are operated by trained personnel.
- Act as Temporary Works Co-ordinator for the project.
- Ensure the timely requisition, delivery, and tracking of materials in line with the construction programme.
- Liaise with the design team to ensure release of design information in line with site needs.
- Lead and motivate the site team and subcontractors, maintaining alignment with the programme.
- Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, ensuring safety is embedded in daily site activity.
- Uphold quality, workmanship, and compliance with all specifications, building regulations, and company standards.
- Ensure all site staff and subcontractors adhere to common operational procedures.
- Collaborate with the Commercial and Project Management teams on cost management, variations, and material tracking.
- Chair regular site and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Maintain accurate site records and daily logs via Gateway.
- Conduct safety inspections and uphold health and safety policies in accordance with OHSAS 45001.
- Ensure quality and environmental controls align with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, neighbours, and other stakeholders.
- Manage site waste responsibly in accordance with company policy.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- At least 5 years’ experience in site-based construction project delivery.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in managing multidisciplinary site teams.
- Track record of overseeing all stages of project delivery from inception to handover.
- Strong experience in managing subcontractors, H&S inspections, and reporting.
- Confident in client liaison and stakeholder engagement.
- Experienced in presenting progress reports and performance updates.
- A relevant construction qualification (e.g. HND, HNC, BTEC).
- SMSTS / SSSTS certification.
- CSCS / CSR Card.
- First Aid at Work and COSHH accreditation.
