Health Physics Surveyor

Join Cavendish Nuclear as a Health Physics Surveyor at our Whetstone site near Leicester, Leicestershire. You will play a key role in radiation safety, supporting critical operations at a nuclear power station and contributing directly to the safety of people, the environment and clean energy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiation and contamination surveys and complete reports in line with local arrangements.
  • Maintain registers of sources and record daily checks and defects.
  • Organise, set up and use air sampling equipment where applicable.
  • Function‑check Health Physics survey equipment and report any defects.
  • Provide Health Physics coverage of operations as directed by the Health Physics Supervisor.

This is a permanent, full‑time position based at Whetstone. You will work Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 16:00/16:15 and Friday from 07:30 to 12:00.

Essential Experience

  • Experience is not essential; we welcome candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • A relevant science or engineering degree.
  • City & Guilds Stage 1 in Radiation Safety.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection.
  • Alternatively, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
