The role

As a Principal Environmental Consultant, you’ll apply your expertise to solve complex challenges, influence national energy security, and help shape sustainable solutions for the future. This is a strategic role where your decisions matter — driving innovation and supporting our rapid growth agenda.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and mentor team members.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive consultancy growth in line with Cavendish Nuclear’s strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of integrated waste management strategies.
  • Resolve technical issues and compile detailed reports and presentations.

This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week, based in Warrington, Cheshire. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the nuclear industry with applied knowledge across areas such as decommissioning, site restoration, spent fuel management, and environmental planning.
  • Proven ability to develop waste management strategies and liaise with regulators and clients.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Consultancy experience and familiarity with industry best practice.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or Scientist status (essential).
  • Additional certifications in waste management or nuclear safety (advantageous).

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
