The role
As a Carbon Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will hold an exciting role supporting the delivery of carbon foot printing over the lifecycle of the PP&E programme and changes to design to reduce carbon. Day-to-day, you’ll carry out the carbon accounting process on projects and input into the lifecycle assessments of our key products and services, assisting sustainability concepts and theories to engineering to deliver improvements on the development designs calculations and technical solutions across the Engineering Product Lifecycle for the customer. Communication of embodied carbon data to stakeholders in a clear manner to help drive project improvements. Helping to develop sustainability and LCA strategies and action across future projects. Assessing the environmental performance of projects against relevant national and international standards. Informing the development of project design taking into account carbon management/reduction and other sustainability metrics. Asset management/planning and engagement with infrastructure clients at senior level.
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/onsite and two days working from home, and is based at our Warrington hub.
Essential Experience Of The Carbon Specialist
- Experience in delivering carbon foot printing / LCA across a range of complex project types.
- Demonstrable experience supporting Engineering (particularly mechanical) is highly desirable.
- Interest in sustainability and carbon reduction.
- Project management experience, including budget management, reporting writing and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of key methodologies and data sources associated with LCA and carbon management, (e.g. PAS2080: Carbon Management in infrastructure, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, among others).
- Use of LCA tools e.g. One click LCA / Sima Pro etc.
- Demonstrable experience engaging with various stakeholders, including clients, particularly asset owners.
Qualifications For The Carbon Specialist
- BSc In Science / engineering / environmental topic / procurement subject.
- LCA / carbon management qualifications, such as training in ISO14040 or LCACP.
- MSc in a Science / engineering / environmental / procurement subject.
- Membership to a relevant institution including IEMA.
