The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you play a vital role in our mission. From decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities and supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to enabling the operation and construction of nuclear power plants, Cavendish Nuclear is at the forefront of cleaning up the nuclear legacy and shaping a future where nuclear energy contributes to national security, energy resilience and net zero goals.

Our highly skilled team delivers major defence, decommissioning, new build and nuclear generation projects, winning over 78% of our recent tenders. Together, we’re innovating to make nuclear safer, faster and more cost-effective across the energy lifecycle – including our work with Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and X Energy.

Day To Day You’ll

  • Promote effective collaboration across Engineering and other functional teams
  • Interface with customers and the supply chain on design issues and support procurement specifications
  • Ensure correct application of procedures, codes and standards to technical and engineering activities
  • Contribute to product safety assessments and act as a technical interface with stakeholders
  • Conduct technical investigations and analysis to resolve problems and improve designs
  • Drive process improvements across the operational/design lifecycle to enhance quality and efficiency

This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), based at one of our offices in Bristol, Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Newbury (Berkshire), with hybrid working arrangements (three days in the office).

Essential Experience Of The Mechanical Engineer

Nuclear experience is not a requirement for this role. If you are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and has the courage to challenge the status quo, then we would like to hear from you. We welcome applicants from all engineering backgrounds who are able to demonstrate the following:

  • A minimum of HNC (Higher National Certificate) or HND (Higher National Diploma) in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and a solid understanding of General Engineering Drawing Practice
  • The ability to build strong, influential relationships with key stakeholders

Security Clearance
