Due to continued growth, this leading supplier of tools and machinery are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Purchasing Manager to join the senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing procurement professional with extensive experience sourcing products from China and the Far East, ideally within the power tools or related sectors.

The Role: As Purchasing Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the company’s purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, stock availability, and new product development. You will work closely with buying, engineering, marketing, and senior management teams to ensure products are delivered successfully from concept through to market launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the purchasing and buying function
  • Source and develop new products for wholesale and retail markets
  • Approve stock purchase orders and pricing structures
  • Ensure full stock availability across product ranges
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand the company’s product offering
  • Coordinate with buying, testing, and marketing teams to meet product launch deadlines
  • Oversee new product testing and evaluation alongside the in-house engineering team
  • Manage product lifecycle decisions, including range rationalisation and product deletion
  • Oversee the full flow of new products from import through engineering and private label development
  • Set trade and retail pricing in line with company margin requirements
  • Continuously review market trends and competitor pricing to maintain competitiveness

About You:

  • A proven track record in procurement and senior-level purchasing management
  • Strong experience importing finished consumer products from China and the Far East
  • Ideally, experience within the power tools or workshop equipment sector
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial understanding
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • The ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Knowledge of key market commodities, suppliers, and procurement processes
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial, and hands-on approach
