Based: Riverston School in Lewisham/Greenwich, London with occasional travel.

Reports to: Group IT Manager, with an indirect reporting line to Headteachers.

Role Description: This is a hands-on role, working closely with school staff and central IT colleagues, to provide high quality technical support across three schools. You will be responsible for maintaining robust, secure and reliable ICT environments that support teaching, learning and school administration. This role focuses on support within a Google Workspace-first ecosystem, across a mixed device network.

Key responsibilities:

  • Technical Support & User Services
    • Provide first and second-line technical support to staff and pupils across all three sites.
    • Build and maintain positive working relationships with pupils, staff, parents/carers and external professionals.
    • Respond to incidents and requests efficiently, escalating where appropriate and ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.
    • Administer and support Google Workspace for Education, including user accounts, groups, shared drives, permissions and device integration.
    • Support the use of Microsoft 365 where required alongside Google Workspace.
    • Assist staff in the effective use of cloud tools to support teaching, learning and administration.
  • Devices & Classroom Technology
    • Install, configure and maintain Chromebooks, iPads, macOS and Windows devices.
    • Support interactive whiteboards, panels and classroom AV equipment, including in-class troubleshooting when required.
    • Prepare, deploy and refresh devices for staff and pupils in line with school procedures.
  • Networks & Infrastructure
    • Support and maintain school networks, primarily UniFi-based, with awareness of Aruba networking at one site.
    • Monitor network performance, identify issues and work with central IT or third-party suppliers to implement improvements.
    • Assist with server-based services, backups and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Safeguarding, Filtering & Internet Use
    • Support and maintain Smoothwall filtering appliances, ensuring safe and appropriate internet access for staff and pupils.
    • Assist in monitoring internet usage and managing user access in line with school policies (excluding formal DPO responsibilities).
  • School Systems & Administration Support
    • Provide technical support for school systems used across teaching and learning and administrative systems.
    • Support joiners/leavers processes for staff and pupils.
