The Role
Heading up our Technical & Engineering team, you will combine strong engineering and technical expertise with a pragmatic, collaborative approach and exceptional leadership skills. You will play a key role in shaping project delivery strategy and ensuring all developments are delivered to the highest standards of compliance, buildability and cost effectiveness. The Head of Technical & Engineering takes overall responsibility for the design process, involving the management of consultants, input from internal and external parties and liaising with the relevant statutory and local authorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the technical and engineering team, offering support, feedback and development
- Managing the delivery of technical information to project teams through Technical Project Managers and the Engineer
- Manage external consultants, architects, engineers and technical partners
- Drive value engineering and risk mitigation across projects
- Maintain compliance with legislation, NHBC standards, Building Regulations and health & safety requirements
- Manage and progress adoptions and management companies to completion
- Manage and maintain the Cavanna standard house type portfolio
- Report on the implementation and progression of our sustainability strategy
- Provide accurate reporting on actual or projected cost movements in Technical budgets
- Project and report key dates to pre-development sites and report on their current status/anticipated start on site dates
- Act as Principal Designer stakeholder under the Building Safety Act

About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Construction/design related HNC/HND or Degree
- Wide knowledge of construction methods and practical delivery
- Knowledge of Building regulations and statutory legislation
- A good understanding of engineering design and implementation
- Experience managing teams with diverse skill sets
- Proficient in acting as the Principal Designer (Building Safety Act)
- Understanding of legal processes relating to adoptions and management agreements
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, promoting collaborative working
