We are now looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Torquay on a full-time, permanent basis.
What you'll be doing
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of our residential developments. Working closely with the Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will help drive value and cost control by supporting the sourcing and procurement of materials and sub-contractors, reviewing tenders, and ensuring scopes of work fully capture project requirements. You will also play an active role in monitoring costs, identifying risks and opportunities, and contributing clear, accurate information to support commercial decision-making. Additionally, you will:
- Take growing responsibility for your own projects across different stages of the build cycle
- Identify, challenge and control project costs
- Document and communicate commercial risks and opportunities
- Prepare sub-contract documentation and ensure payments are processed on time

This is a terrific opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor with experience in a construction or quantity surveying environment to join our respected, family-owned organisation. You'll have the chance to gain exposure across the full build lifecycle, growing your confidence and skillset as you take increasing ownership of projects and learn directly from experienced Quantity Surveyors within a supportive, knowledge-sharing team.
Who we are looking for
To be considered as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will need:
- Previous experience working in Quantity Surveying Practice or equivalent construction environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- To be a self-starter with a proactive approach
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A full, valid driving licence
