An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic, growing organisation headquartered in Inverness. We are looking for a Finance Assistant / Trainee Accountant who is eager to develop their career in finance within a supportive and fast‑paced environment. This role offers the chance to gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of finance functions, work alongside experienced professionals, and grow your skills toward professional qualifications such as ATT or ACCA/CIMA. Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting month‑end close, including preparation and posting of journal entries
  • Assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets
  • Matching, coding, and processing invoices and credit notes against valid purchase orders
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
  • Processing company credit card reports and ensuring compliance with company policy
  • Preparing draft VAT returns for review by senior finance staff
  • Responding to supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaising with finance managers to obtain invoice approvals where required
  • Ensuring full compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and internal controls

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Essential: Previous experience in a finance or accounts administration role
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Studying towards ACCA or a similar professional qualification (desirable)
  • Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and keen to develop within a finance career
