We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a high-quality, Italian-inspired restaurant. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a chef who is passionate about fresh ingredients, strong flavours, and running a disciplined, professional kitchen. The successful candidate will play a key role in pushing standards forward, with clear ambitions toward local and national recognition and awards. This is an opportunity to lead a kitchen with real intent, not just maintain the status quo.
Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and consistent service.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, flavour and presentation across all menus.
- Develop and evolve menus using fresh, high-quality ingredients, with a focus on seasonality and balance.
- Lead, train and inspire the kitchen team, creating a positive, motivated and professional environment.
- Set and uphold standards that align with award-level expectations.
- Manage ordering, stock control and supplier relationships to maintain strong GP and minimise waste.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Work closely with front-of-house leadership to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Be fully hands-on during service, leading by example and setting the pace.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality, fresh-food restaurant.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and retain a high-performing kitchen team.
- Excellent understanding of Italian or Italian-inspired cooking and modern restaurant techniques.
- Experience working with fresh produce rather than convenience-led menus.
- Strong organisational skills and calm decision-making under pressure.
- A genuine drive to achieve recognition, awards and long-term success.
