QA Engineer - Highways/Civil Engineering
Location: Wakefield (Office Based)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced QA Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background in highways, infrastructure, or similar civil engineering projects, looking for a long-term freelance role with the possibility of a permanent position.
Responsibilities
- Carry out regular quality assurance inspections and site compliance checks.
- Develop, implement, and manage QA processes using digital platforms such as Procore.
- Review and process As-Built drawings and project documentation.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with Project Management Plans and quality standards.
- Monitor and manage subcontractor quality performance and compliance.
- Maintain accurate QA records and support continuous improvement across projects.
Requirements
- Industry-recognised qualification such as ONC/HNC, NVQ, or BEng in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a QA Engineer role within civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction quality assurance processes and setting out.
- Good commercial knowledge and an understanding of project costs, contracts, and commercial processes.
- Experience using digital QA/document control platforms such as Procore is advantageous.
- AutoCAD experience is desirable.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
