An award-winning and leading main construction contractor that is committed to delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors. Our client has been in the industry for over 100 years and has built a renowned reputation for delivering complete construction solutions for some of the UK\’s biggest businesses. Due to an increase in workload, our client is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor who can deliver high-level fitout & refurbishment projects in the retail construction sector on a nationwide basis. This is for a forward-thinking business that is offering working from home and flexibility to accommodate modern life.

The Role

Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering refit and refurbishment packages on retail banking projects nationwide with values up to £500k.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

As the Quantity Surveyor, you must possess the following;

  • 5+ years\’ experience working as an Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor or a Fit-Out Contractor
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT
  • Preferred background in fit out or commercial construction
  • Knowledge of refit and refurbishment projects with values up to £500k
  • Good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
  • Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
  • Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties

Duties

  • Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Submission of interim payment applications
  • Preparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports / Project cost control
  • Assisting with all commercial aspects of allocated projects
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations
  • Manage and value variations
  • Attend meetings for the agreement of final accounts
  • Post contract liaison with clients
  • Sub-contract negotiation and letting
  • Joint responsibility of managing contract costs including payments to sub-contractors
  • Preparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports
  • Assist with the management of contractual documentation and letters / Understanding of sub-contracts
  • Placing sub-contract orders
