Caval Recruitment is proud to be working with an established civil construction contractor specialising in ground works, delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across [region/UK]. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation built on reliability and technical excellence, our client is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their growing team.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of multiple ground works contracts from mobilisation through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget. You will be the key point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, driving commercial performance and operational excellence across your portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of civil ground works contracts, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, and highway works
- Lead and mentor site teams, including Site Managers and Site Engineers
- Monitor and control project programmes, budgets, and resources
- Manage client relationships and attend progress meetings, representing the business professionally
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, management, and performance
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Produce and review monthly cost/value reconciliations and financial reports
- Identify and manage contract risks, variations, and early warnings
- Liaise with designers, engineers, and statutory bodies as required
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within civil construction, with a strong background in ground works
- Solid understanding of NEC or ICE forms of contract
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and CVRs
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (HNC/HND/Degree)
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
