The primary purpose of the role is to support the Maintenance Technician in carrying out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure machinery, buildings, facilities and equipment are kept in safe, functional and efficient working order.

The Maintenance Operative's responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine maintenance and repairs on machines, buildings and equipment
  • Conducting regular inspections to identify and address mechanical and maintenance issues
  • Carrying out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and decorating tasks
  • Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • A time served mechanical background
  • Knowledge of multiple trades (including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and decorating), including the ability to work with various materials including wood and metal
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage own workload
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
