Purpose

This role is responsible for leading our financial operations, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting that supports effective business decision-making across Causeway. As Finance Manager, you'll own the end-to-end monthly close process, drive accountability for on-time delivery, and partner with the business to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights. You'll lead and develop the finance team to the highest standards, embedding continuous improvement into everything we do.

Reporting to the Group Controller, your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Financial Leadership: Own the end-to-end monthly close process, ensuring the timely, accurate and complete production of monthly management accounts in line with our reporting timetable. Lead the preparation and review of the monthly P&L, identifying and investigating significant variances to budget, forecast and prior year, presenting clear, insightful analysis to senior management. Drive accountability for delivery using close management tools (FloQast) to monitor progress, manage dependencies and proactively address bottlenecks. Oversee weekly cash flow forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities to support management decision-making. Challenge the quality and accuracy of financial information, investigating unusual transactions or trends and ensuring corrective action is taken before reporting is finalised. Continuously review and improve month-end processes, identifying opportunities to streamline activities, strengthen controls and automate manual tasks whilst maintaining governance and accuracy. Manage the VAT reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of returns, whilst maintaining full compliance with tax legislation. Support the financial integration of acquisitions, including accounting, reporting, process alignment and implementation of appropriate financial controls. Represent Finance in the business, liaising with and providing advice to other functions, interpreting financial results and enhancing reporting to support informed decision-making. Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline finance processes and enhance financial reporting.
  • Team Development: Lead, coach and motivate the team to enable them to perform to their full potential, ensuring objectives are set and regular performance feedback is provided. Lead by example, fostering a positive working environment, inspiring others and encouraging teamwork, collaboration and the best of Causeway's values. Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with minimum 3-4 years post-qualification experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in accounting roles, with strong technical accounting skills.
  • Experience working with complicated legal entity structures and delivering monthly financial reporting.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with intermediate to advanced Excel and financial software skills.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with strong time management, prioritisation and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to synthesise information and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain finances to non-financial colleagues.
  • Ability to spot trends and anomalies through data and statistical analysis; demonstrable track record of integrity and accountability.

Desirable:

  • Experience of acquisition integration and working with multiple financial systems.
  • Experience in supply chain, financial or construction-related technology sectors.
