Purpose

The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role within Causeway's IT team, supporting, developing, and implementing secure, scalable, and reliable cloud and infrastructure solutions that enable the business to meet its current and future objectives.

The role is responsible for managing and resolving IT cases, maintaining the health and security of the technology estate, and delivering infrastructure improvements that enhance operational effectiveness.

The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including vulnerability management, patch management, project delivery, and the ongoing execution and improvement of operational processes and procedures.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the role applies technical expertise to ensure the stability, performance, and continual evolution of Causeway's cloud and infrastructure services, driving operational excellence and supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud & Infrastructure
  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), VMware and container orchestration services such as Kubernetes.
  • Implement and maintain automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code (Ia C), and configuration management tools (e. g., Terraform, Ansible) to streamline provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Monitor, optimise, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure performance, security, with an awareness of costs, utilising monitoring, assessment tools and logging frameworks (e. g.

Datadog, Azure Sentinel and Tenable).

  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), privileged identify management, data encryption, network security, and compliance with industry regulations and best practices (e. g.

GDPR, Cyber Security Assessment (CSA)).

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning and innovation.
  • Review existing systems and processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document technical architectures, standards, and best practices for cloud computing, and ensure alignment with enterprise IT strategies and objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including IT management team and colleagues, providing updates on performance, upcoming changes, and other relevant information.
  • When required be part of an on-call rota, responding to critical monitors and alerts out of core hours.
  • Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and mentoring other team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 3+ years’ experience of working with at least one of AWS, Azure, GCP or a managed VMWare service.
  • Strong Windows and Linux administration skills.
  • Experience working with Firewalls and TCP/IP Networking.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing monitoring and alerting platforms.
  • Security management lifecycle, from identification, risk management and remediation.
  • Use of common backup and disaster recovery software.

Desirable Skills

  • AWS/Azure/GCP qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge or experience of Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+).
  • Experience of working in Agile teams being aware of Agile methodologies (using Scrum or Kanban).
  • Endpoint Security including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
  • Deploying and provisioning Infrastructure as Code with tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
