We are looking for an experienced and proactive SHEQ Manager to lead the company’s safety, health, environmental and quality arrangements across our fabrication facilities and construction activities. This is a leadership role within a well-established structural steel and engineering business operating in a high-risk, multi-site environment, based just outside Nottingham. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will provide strategic oversight, operational assurance, and continual improvement of the company’s integrated management systems and SHEQ performance. The role combines visible operational engagement with leadership of management systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
The Role
- Leading and developing the company’s SHEQ management systems and compliance arrangements
- Providing operational SHEQ support across fabrication facilities, offices and construction sites
- Managing and improving ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
- Supporting operational teams with risk management, safe systems of work, and continual improvement activities
- Overseeing incident investigations, corrective actions, and performance monitoring
- Managing occupational health arrangements, including exposure monitoring and health surveillance
- Coordinating statutory compliance relating to plant, equipment and facilities
- Acting as the primary point of contact for certification bodies, insurers and regulatory authorities
- Supporting tendering, client engagement and pre-qualification activities
- Promoting a proactive SHEQ culture across the organisation
The role works closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, who retains operational responsibility for EN 1090, CE/UKCA marking, and ISO 3834 welding quality compliance.
About You:
We are looking for a credible and commercially aware SHEQ professional with experience in heavy manufacturing, structural steelwork, engineering, and/or construction environments. You should be comfortable engaging with people at all levels of the organisation and capable of balancing operational practicality with governance and compliance requirements.
