As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of complex mechanical components, assemblies and sub‑systems from concept through to production‑intent release. The role provides senior‑level engineering judgement, CAD ownership, design governance and cross‑functional support to deliver robust, manufacturable and serviceable marine propulsion products. The scope of the role: Own mechanical design work packages across structures, housings, brackets, mechanisms, cooling, mounting, enclosure or propulsion‑system interfaces as assigned. Guide design maturity from concept layouts through detailed CAD, drawings, tolerance definition, prototype build and validation support. Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers while ensuring alignment with programme timing, cost, quality and performance requirements. Key responsibilities: Develop mechanical concepts, layouts, 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed 2D drawings to agreed standards. Apply sound engineering principles to design for strength, stiffness, durability, sealing, corrosion resistance, thermal behavior, manufacturability, assembly and service access. Lead or support design reviews, packaging reviews, DFMEA, tolerance stack analysis and technical risk assessments. Define engineering requirements for components and sub‑systems, including interfaces, loads, materials, coatings, fasteners and validation needs. Work with analysis engineers to define load cases, review CAE results and implement design improvements. Support prototype manufacture, build issue resolution, supplier queries, test failures and engineering change requests. Ensure CAD data, drawings, BOMs and design records are accurate, controlled and suitable for release. Mentor junior engineers and designers in design methods, standards, drawing practice and decision‑making. Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and quality teams to achieve cost‑effective and repeatable designs.
