Caudwell Marine is an innovative engineering company, financially backed by John Caudwell, developing a patented high-performance outboard motor and Vessel Control System, with the AX300 leading our product launch. We are a small but growing team of passionate, hands-on individuals working together to bring a technologically advanced product to market. The Role

This is a hands-on senior position within our Assembly and Test function. The Senior Assembly Operator will lead from the front actively building engines on the line while also driving standards, coaching operators, and ensuring daily production and test targets are achieved. This is not a supervisory desk-based role.

You will be expected to:

  • Work on the tools daily
  • Support overtime when required
  • Step in wherever the line needs you
  • Drive pace, quality, and accountability across the team

You will be the senior technical presence on the shop floor and the escalation point for build and test issues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build engines and support test operations daily.
  • Work overtime when required to meet production demand.
  • Cover absences and support bottleneck stations.
  • Maintain productivity in line with takt and output targets.
  • Report KPIs, shortages, quality issues and delivery risks.
  • Work closely with Production Planning to execute build schedules.
  • Escalate risks early — no surprises.
  • Ensure defects are logged, investigated and retested correctly.
  • Drive root cause problem solving on the line.
  • Prevent repeat issues through disciplined process control.
  • Maintain 5S and waste reduction standards.
  • Maintain deep understanding of the full build and test process.
  • Ensure latest design revisions are correctly implemented.
  • Support manufacturing trials and engineering changes.
  • Work closely with Test Engineers to prepare rigs and hardware.
  • Coach and mentor operators.
  • Maintain training matrix.
  • Challenge poor standards or behaviours.
  • Drive a performance-focused culture.
