Role Overview
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the manufacturing processes used to build the AX300 outboard and associated systems. Working at the interface between Design Engineering and Production, you will ensure products are built safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a practical, shopfloor-connected role suited to someone who enjoys turning engineering designs into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes for engine and sub-assembly build
- Create and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and build documentation
- Define tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support safe and efficient assembly
- Support introduction of engineering changes into production (ECNs / ECRs)
- Lead process risk assessments (PFMEA) and implement mitigation actions
- Drive improvements in build quality, repeatability, and efficiency
- Support root cause analysis and problem solving relating to build and test issues
- Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure products are manufacturable (DFM/DFA input)
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities
- Analyse production data to identify trends, defects, and process improvement opportunities
- Ensure processes support traceability and data capture through MES or production systems
- Define and support torque strategies, critical characteristics (SC/CC), and control methods
- Assist with layout planning and workflow optimisation within the assembly area
- Provide hands‑on support to Assembly Technicians and Operators during process changes or trials
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, 5S, and waste reduction
Previous Experience
- Experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role within a mechanical or electro‑mechanical product environment
- Background in automotive, marine, aerospace, or similar complex assembly industries desirable
- Experience creating work instructions and defining assembly processes
- Knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem‑solving methods
- Experience supporting NPI or low‑to‑medium volume production environments beneficial
- Familiarity with MES or digital manufacturing systems advantageous

Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automotive, Marine, or Mechatronics Engineering (or similar) preferred
- Alternatively, significant relevant industry experience in a process/manufacturing engineering role
Additional Information
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (on‑site)
- Flexibility may be required during key build and launch phases
- Salary range: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
