The predicted salary is between 39 - 58 £ per hour.

A unique opportunity for you to utilise your STEM teaching experience on a short-term contract between late June to the end of July 2026, with centres available in Cambridge, London and Northampton.

What does it involve? Each summer, Stafford House Study Holidays welcomes thousands of young learners from around the world. As a British Council-accredited provider, we offer high-quality study holidays, and this programme focuses specifically on STEM-based learning. You will teach small classes of around 15 students in a multicultural environment, delivering a mix of lectures, workshops, and science-based English lessons. Topics may include physics masterclasses, guest lectures, and hands-on workshops such as Build a Volcano, The Thermite Reaction, Cauliflower Cloning, Lego Robotics, and Raspberry Pi coding. Students will also take part in practical lab demonstrations and develop the English skills and scientific vocabulary needed to present their final projects. Excursions may include visits to the Science Museum, National Space Centre, or Bletchley Park, depending on location.

Our students (aged 14-17) have an upper-intermediate level of English, so while EFL experience is helpful, it's not essential for this role.

Locations: Northampton, Cambridge, Bloomsbury (Central London)

Optional full-board accommodation may be available in Northampton and Cambridge.

Dates: July 2026

Hours: 15-30 hours per week over 5 days which includes preparation and marking

Pay: £48.09 per contact hour (plus holiday entitlement)

Essential:

  • You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
  • Educated to degree level in a science-related subject
  • Genuine interest in the teaching and welfare of young students
  • You must be available for the duration of the contract
  • You must already have the right to work in the UK

Other: TEFL qualifications may be acceptable if they have been validated by an external body, include a minimum of 6 hours of supervised teaching practice with genuine learners and 100 hours of input. Please note that one-day, weekend, online and distance learning courses are not considered equivalent.

Desirable:

  • Teachers should have a degree or equivalent and have Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL *DELTA/ DipTESOL or equivalent MA qualification desirable
  • Experience of working in an EFL Summer School
  • Experience in an EAP teaching environment
  • Experience of working with young learners
