OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents/carers, and local agencies as needed. They will promote inclusive, person-centred practices focusing on students with SEN and/or disabilities. They should be familiar with the Local Offer and collaborate with professionals to ensure students with SEN receive appropriate support, high-quality teaching, and achieve good outcomes.

REPORTS TO
The candidate will report directly to the Dean and work within the framework set by the Rector.

LOCATION
This role is based at CSVPA Cambridge.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The key duties include:

  • Identifying students with SEN and arranging appropriate support.
  • Coordinating admission screening tests.
  • Maintaining accurate records of students receiving support.
  • Analyzing and evaluating performance data.
  • Ensuring reasonable adjustments for students with SEN.
  • Advising tutors on classroom practices for inclusive education.
  • Coordinating SEN provision and liaising with external agencies.
  • Supporting staff training and development.
  • Supervising student attendance and behavior.
  • Developing resources and supporting academic projects.
  • Participating in meetings and supervising excursions.
  • Adhering to policies on safeguarding, behavior, and attendance.
  • Supporting students with study skills and dissertations.
  • Undertaking administrative tasks and other duties as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Candidates should hold a relevant NPQ for SENCO (or NASENCO if completed prior to September 2024), demonstrate knowledge of legislative and theoretical frameworks for SEN, and possess strong leadership skills. Familiarity with reasonable adjustments in Higher Education, proficiency in Microsoft Office, fluency in English, problem-solving skills, accuracy, and punctuality are essential.
