ABOUT THE WORTHGATE SCHOOL
The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13+ from all over the world. Students study for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere. JOB OVERVIEW
You will work under the direction of the School Nurse in assessing, providing treatment, and supporting students according to the School’s Medical Care Policy and provide administrative support to the Wellness Centre team.
REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Director of Safeguarding, Mental Health and Wellbeing. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Principal.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
– Manage the Wellness Centre (keep it clean? Tidy, change and make beds) to ensure the centre is operationally ready daily
– Ensure students are comfortable at the centre when they are feeling unwell and being monitored (arrange and offer them meals and drinks if required)
– Order medical stock and consumables for the centre under the guidance and direction of the Nurses
– Monitor, stock and storage medication levels within the Centre
– Audit, maintain and order First Aid supplies for the Centre
– Assist with data entry to dedicated medical and student MIS systems
– Undertake essential administrative procedures under the guidance and direction of the nurses
– Support the School Nurse in communication between parents, carers, and agencies in support of the student community
– Liaise and coordinate with the KCHFT Immunisation Team to optimise uptake of the school aged universal vaccination programme
– Administer medication in accordance with the recognised competency framework and training
– Assist with Doctor’s Registration for new students
– Assist the School Nurse to develop and update the delivery and maintenance of Care and Support Plans
– Assist the School Nurse with new arrival medical checks and associated administration
– Work alongside the School Nurse in assessing, giving treatment, and supporting students according to the college’s medical care policy
– Respond to calls from staff, students and respond to emails from doctor’s surgeries and other agencies
– Support students to make appropriate medical, dental and optician appointments
– Accompany under 16-year-old students to Doctor’s, Dental and Optician’s appointments or arrange cover where needed
– Assist with the day-to-day administrative and operational running of the Wellness Centre
– Support the Medical Team / PSHE / RSE curriculum by participating and when relevant leading on workshops in the context of health and wellbeing.

– A current DBS
– To be trained in; First Aid, Opus online Medical Training and Health Training
– Effective time management skills
– Strong communication and organisational abilities
– Great interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
– Good levels of IT literacy (MS Office and bespoke MIS)
– Strong presentation skills
– Clarity of speech
– A calm, empathic and diplomatic approach
– A willingness to take on additional responsibilities
