Our courses range from General English and Professional Certificates to IELTS and Cambridge Exam Preparation, EAP, and CELTA Teacher Training. We also run a dynamic Young Learners summer programme. About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Director of Studies to lead our academic team and uphold the high teaching standards our students expect. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in a prestigious EFL institution with a global reputation.
As Director of Studies, you will oversee all academic operations in the school, ensuring the delivery of engaging, effective, and learner-centred education. You’ll be part of a supportive leadership team and work with around 40 teaching staff (expanding seasonally) to ensure our programmes run smoothly year-round.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the academic team, including recruitment, induction, and ongoing support
- Oversee curriculum delivery across all programmes
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment
- Support student welfare and academic progress
- Maintain accurate academic records and reports
- Collaborate with the School Principal and wider management team on school operations
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
- Liaise with HR / Talent Team to ensure safer recruitment compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement and staff development
Essential
- First degree or equivalent
- DELTA or equivalent diploma
- Experience of teacher recruitment
- Academic Management experience
- Broad range of teaching experience
- Knowledge of English Language examinations (including IELTS and FCE/CAE)
- Experience of teaching EAP
- Right to work in the UK (we are unable to sponsor visa applicants)
Desirable
- Experience of teaching junior and adult courses
- Experience of teaching mono and multilingual courses
- Knowledge of UKVI/UKBA student visa regulations
- Experience with CELTA course administration or delivery
