The Catering and Events Manager role is a key member of the Operations department at Bosworth Independent School, with a focus on delivering a high-quality catering and events offer to students, staff and visitors. You will oversee the kitchen, dining hall and café operations, lead events and functions, and contribute to their development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team delivering catering, hospitality, and events in line with the school ethos.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the kitchen, dining hall and café; take the lead in managing events and functions and contribute to their development.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership qualities and manage budgets effectively.
  • Maintain exceptionally high standards and ensure health and safety compliance to support the school’s 5-star Environmental Health rating.
  • Show hands-on experience in a commercial cooking environment and a proven track record in delivering events.

Person Specification

  • Education & Training
    • Relevant qualification in catering, hospitality, or food service management (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HND, or degree in Hospitality Management, Food & Nutrition).
    • Food Hygiene and Safety certification (Level 3 or above)
    • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety legislation (e.g., HACCP, COSHH)
  • Experience
    • Proven experience in managing large-scale food service
    • Experience in menu planning with nutritional guidelines and dietary requirements
    • Experience managing budgets, stock control, and cost efficiency
    • Experience leading and motivating a catering team
  • Leadership & Management
    • Ability to manage, train, and develop catering staff
    • Strong organisational and time-management skills
    • Ability to work calmly under pressure, meet deadlines, and take a proactive approach to problems
  • Food & Nutrition Knowledge
    • Understanding of school food standards and government guidelines (e.g., School Food Plan)
    • Experience catering for diverse dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, religious, vegetarian/vegan)
    • Commitment to providing healthy, balanced meals for children
  • Financial & Business Acumen
    • Experience with budgeting, procurement, supplier management, cost control and waste reduction
