The Head of Mathematics will provide strategic leadership and management of the Mathematics Department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, achievement, and student progress across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The postholder will lead curriculum development, support and develop teaching staff, and promote excellence in mathematics education within an international school environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience teaching Mathematics at KS4 and KS5.
  • Proven track record of strong examination results.
  • Experience leading a team or holding a position of responsibility within a Mathematics Department.
  • Experience with international curricula and diverse student populations.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong subject knowledge across secondary and post-16 mathematics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and drive student achievement.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms.

Desirable

  • Experience with IB Diploma Mathematics, International A Levels, or other international qualifications.
  • Experience in an independent school setting.
  • Experience preparing students for mathematics competitions and university admissions tests.
