The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) has an ambitious vision to deliver inclusive growth and maximise the benefits of mayoral devolution across the region. We are seeking a Sector Engagement Lead to join our Stakeholder Engagement team within the Strategy and Inclusive Growth Directorate. Working alongside an existing Sector Engagement Lead, you will lead engagement with businesses and stakeholders across the Health and Life Sciences and Creative and Digital sectors, helping to strengthen some of the region’s most important high-growth industries. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of regional economic growth, supporting collaboration between businesses, partners, education providers, and public sector organisations to drive innovation, investment, productivity, and high-value employment opportunities across the East Midlands.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build strong relationships with businesses, trade bodies, sector networks, universities, and partner organisations across the Health and Life Sciences and Creative and Digital sectors.
- Develop and support cluster activity plans that promote innovation, business support, investment, and growth.
- Work collaboratively across EMCCA and the wider Place team to champion sector priorities and identify opportunities for partnership working and project development.
- Promote EMCCA business support programmes and connect businesses to wider regional growth opportunities.
- Support the development of sector-focused skills and careers activity, encouraging greater awareness of opportunities within priority industries.
- Provide insight, research, and analysis to support strategic decision-making and sector development activity.
- Contribute to engagement activity that strengthens productivity, resilience, and innovation across the regional economy.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure sector priorities are reflected within wider economic growth programmes and initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Previous background in business support, sector engagement, partnership working, or economic development.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Experience working collaboratively with businesses, education providers, trade bodies, and public sector partners.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships and support collaborative projects and initiatives.
- Knowledge of the East Midlands economy and key growth sectors.
- Understanding of business support, innovation, skills, or regional economic development activity.
- Experience working across partnership environments or public sector organisations.
