CATON CONSTRUCTION GROUP, one of The Caton Companies, is seeking an experienced Pile Driver to join our heavy civil construction project team in BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (Southport).
Operates pile-driving machinery to drive pilings or posts into the ground for support of bridges, piers, buildings, and other structures. Reviews building plans, ensuring pilings are installed accurately. Inspects machinery prior to beginning shift to ensure there are no mechanical problems.
Pay is negotiable and based on experience.
Responsibilities (including, But Not Limited To)
- Operates piledriving equipment mounted on skids, barge, crawler treads, or locomotive crane to complete tasks such as driving piles as foundation for structures such as bridges, piers, buildings, etc.
- Craft knowledge should include pile driving, crane operations, welding, carpentry, sandblasting, pipefitting, and related areas
- Understand the basic functions and operations of various types of pile hammers – diesel, air, hydraulic, and drop hammers
- Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures, such as buildings, bridges, and piers
- Judge distance and position piling leads
- Operates sheet piledriving equipment to install sheet piles as required by project
- Read and understand blueprints or site plans from which the piledriving work will be done
- Assist in unloading and assembling a crane or other hoisting equipment to be used in piledriving activities
- Must have knowledge of operating procedures for hoisting equipment to position piling leads
- Has general knowledge of construction rigging – use of slings, cable chokers, spreader bars, multi-part load blocks, etc.
- May oil, grease, service, and make normal maintenance adjustments on equipment; perform daily safety and maintenance checks; complete paperwork and other documentation as needed
- Perform all work in compliance with Company and industry safety standards
- May perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Pile Driver working heavy construction is required.
- Competency in reading civil construction plans
- Valid Driver License
- Marine pile driving experience preferred.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Normal work hours vary, based on project needs. Daily overtime is anticipated, and some weekend work will be required.
