Join to apply for the Pile Driver role at Caton Construction Group. Caton Construction Group, part of The Caton Companies, is seeking an experienced Pile Driver to join our heavy civil construction project team in Brunswick County, NC (Southport).

The Pile Driver operates pile-driving machinery to install pilings or posts into the ground for supporting bridges, piers, buildings, and other structures. Responsibilities include reviewing building plans to ensure accurate installation, inspecting machinery before shifts, and performing related tasks.

  • Operate pile-driving equipment mounted on skids, barges, crawler treads, or locomotive cranes for driving piles for structures like bridges, piers, and buildings.
  • Utilize craft knowledge in pile driving, crane operations, welding, carpentry, sandblasting, pipefitting, and related fields.
  • Understand the functions of various pile hammers—diesel, air, hydraulic, and drop hammers.
  • Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations.
  • Judge distance and position piling leads accurately.
  • Operate sheet pile-driving equipment to install sheet piles as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or site plans.
  • Assist in unloading and assembling cranes or hoisting equipment used in pile driving.
  • Operate procedures for hoisting equipment to position piling leads.
  • Have general knowledge of construction rigging, including slings, cable chokers, and spreader bars.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment, conduct safety and maintenance checks, and complete documentation.
  • Work in compliance with safety standards and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Pile Driver in heavy construction.
  • Ability to read civil construction plans.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Marine pile driving experience is preferred.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position with variable work hours based on project needs. Overtime and weekend work are expected.
