Wellington Country Park are seeking a Full Time Animal Farm Supervisor to assist the Farm Manager in control, operation and supervision of the Animal Farm as a whole.
To ensure a high level of animal welfare and customer service is maintained at all times.
To continue to develop the farm as an attraction within the Country Park.
Hours of Work: 6 to 8 hours a day between the hours of 9:00am and 5:30pm, averaging to 37 hours per week. All staff are required to work Bank Holiday weekends.
Rate of Pay: £26,000 per year dependent on age, plus

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To have a good basic knowledge of the Country Park in order to help with customer queries
- Positively promote and protect the reputation of Wellington Country Park and the wider Estate at all times
- To lead the farm staff in the Farm Manager’s absence, to include setting task lists, training staff and ensuring all tasks are completed to an agreed standard
- To assist the Farm Manager in staff recruitment and training
- Daily husbandry of all animals at the farm, to include livestock species, small domestic animals, aviary birds, tortoises and poultry.
- Cleaning animal pens and enclosures to a weekly and monthly cleaning rota
- Preparing and giving out food to animals to follow set diet plans. Assisting the Farm Manager in monthly reviews of diet plans
- Following the herd health plan as set by the Farm Manager and ensuring all aspects are completed as required
- Leading staff in routine grooming, medical procedures and handling of animals in the Farm Manager’s absence
- Maintaining a clean and tidy farm environment, to include handwash facilities and toilets
- Completing weekly stock checks in the Farm Manager’s absence and to ensure all orders are placed to allow for smooth running of the Animal Farm
- Keep all staff areas clean and tidy to include staff room and animal kitchen
- To assist the Farm Manager in developing a robust enrichment and animal training plan
- Ensure farm opening and close down procedures are followed and everything is clean and tidy ready for the next day
- To be the key person for communication between other departments or senior management on a daily basis in the Farm Manager’s absence
- To ensure all daily records are maintained, including medical records, movement records and diaries. To assist the Farm Manager in monthly checks of records
- To assist the Animal Farm Manager in further developing the Animal Farm as an attraction
- To perform other reasonable duties as set out by the Animal Farm Manager
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Should be personable to deal with customer queries and requests
- Promote customer care through all actions and behaviours and to provide visitors with the best possible experience
- To assist with running an interactive activity schedule daily with various animals whilst interacting with visitors by providing information, answering questions and general conversation
- To co-operate with all team members
- To support safe working practices and observe the Employer’s Health & Safety policy
- PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
- To be qualified in animal care or management
- To be able to demonstrate relevant experience working with a variety of animals
- Some supervisory experience is preferable
- Friendly, confident and approachable attitude
- Sound communication skills
- The position requires commitment, focus and reliability
- Attention to detail and pride in your job
- Ability to multi-task as necessary whilst working in a busy environment
- Dealing with all customers in a professional manner
