St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to: Danna Kelemen at dkelemen@saviochs.org.

The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence. The Substitute Teacher follows the plans and guides provided by the classroom teacher. This position reports to the principal.

Responsibilities:
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
  • Follow instruction set by the classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on the adopted curriculum.
  • Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
  • Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
  • Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation.
  • Able to work well with others in the school community.
  • Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom setting.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in job-appropriate technology.

  • Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Preferred, but not required (exception for long-term positions). A substitute teacher who will have responsibility for a class for 50% or more of the grading period should have the same qualifications required for the regular teacher.
  • Certifications and Training: Valid Texas driver's license. Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period. Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
