Are you called to be a Forerunner? From September 2026 we are seeking to appoint 2 highly passionate Youth Ministers to join our Forerunner Youth Ministry team and support the religious and faith mission of Worth School. This is a one‑year, possibly two‑year, fixed‑term contract.

To be a Forerunner is to prepare the way for an encounter with Jesus Christ. Empowered by a shared life of prayer, Forerunners embrace both a charismatic & contemplative lifestyle that points to Jesus, witnesses to the power and credibility of His Gospel, and establish a culture of discipleship at Worth and our partner schools.

Community. Living, praying and working together in community, Forerunners are rooted in St Benedict’s vision that community life is essential to knowing and passing on God’s love.

Formation. We provide Forerunners a unique opportunity to grow in faith, drawing on the rich wisdom of the Monastic community at Worth and the Catholic leadership of the school.

Mission. The fruit of our community is an overflow of empowered mission, a proclamation of the Gospel, in the pursuit of the transformation of young people’s lives in schools.

Typical Forerunner responsibilities would include:

  • Delivering programmes of evangelisation to all Year groups
  • Discipling your designated house
  • Contributing to our culture of discipleship through prayer, pastoral presence and mentoring with both pupils and staff
  • Raising up student leaders

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Practising Christianity with a sympathetic view towards the Catholic Faith and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church (as laid out in the Forerunner Commitment which is available on request)
  • Experience working in youth ministry

Desirable but not essential:

  • Formal qualification in either theology or youth work/ministry
  • Experience of working in a secondary school environment
  • Experience of running Alpha
  • Experience of delivering Catholic RSE
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

Worth is a highly successful co‑educational, Catholic, Benedictine, 11‑18 HMC boarding and day school of circa 650 pupils. It offers a broad curriculum, including the International Baccalaureate and A‑levels in the Sixth Form.

You must be eligible to work in the UK to apply for this vacancy; Worth School is not able to offer visa sponsorship. We are committed to the safeguarding of children; all employees must have the ability to understand and adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation. The role holder’s safeguarding responsibilities are set out in the job description. References may be taken prior to interview and DBS and other vetting checks will be conducted on the successful applicant.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. The amendments provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.

The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide. Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 Section 7(1)(a) states that it is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
