We are looking to appoint a cover supervisor, starting September 2026. A cover supervisor covers lessons in the absence of their regular teacher, due to absence, sickness or trips, ensuring that students remain engaged and follow the work set for them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management: Supervising students during lessons to ensure they remain on task, meet the school’s high expectations and adhere to the school’s behaviour policies.
  • Delivering Set Work: Distributing and delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and resources provided by the teacher.
  • Supporting Learning: Answering students’ questions about the work and encouraging participation.
  • Monitoring Behaviour: Addressing and managing any inappropriate behaviour and escalating issues to other staff when necessary.
  • Flexibility: Covering a variety of subjects and year groups as needed, as well as any other activities that need staffing.

This role requires effective organisational, communication, and classroom management skills, as well as the ability to adapt to different situations and build positive relationships with students. It would suit a person thinking about a career in teaching or building a career in the support mechanism for students within the College, or someone who has previously had experience in education. You will need to have a personal and professional interest in the education and development of students.
