About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, organised, and proactive Senior HR Assistant to join our busy and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HR professional to play a key role in delivering a high-quality human resources service within a dynamic educational environment.
The position is a temporary maternity cover role on an all-year-round basis, although term-time-only working will be considered for the right candidate.
Working closely with the Director of Support Services, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive HR administration and support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements, and school policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and staff.
- Coordinate recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies, shortlisting administration, arranging interviews, and issuing offer documentation.
- Manage onboarding processes, including pre-employment checks, references, DBS clearances, and right-to-work verification.
- Support absence management processes, including recording, monitoring, and reporting sickness absence.
- Assist with contract administration, contractual changes, and payroll-related processes.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements, and data protection regulations.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR systems and procedures.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of working within HR administration or a HR officer role.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience of maintaining confidential records and handling sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A good understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
