The Role
- To provide pastoral support for students having a wide range of learning difficulties/disabilities, emotional behaviour issues and other more complex needs.
- To support students’ additional needs which may include personal care, toileting, mobility, behaviour management etc.
- To support students during breaks and lunchtimes in order to help develop their social skills and to access all college facilities i.e. canteen, library.
- To facilitate the flexible support and development of learning opportunities for the Department’s students in classes, at external venues, infilling into mainstream and other environments.
The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and personable candidate to join our highly effective Foundation Learning team. The Foundation Learning Department is seeking an individual who holds GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade A*–C (9–4) or equivalent. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality and diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
- Hours: 29.6 hours per week, term time only. Starting and finishing times as agreed (8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday)
- Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 7 to 11 – £25,951 to £28,634 per annum (actual salary £18,154 to £20,030 per annum)
