Overview

Position: Facilities Officer (Grounds)

Start date: Applications accepted all year round. Interviews are initiated based on the needs of the kindergarten, school or college.

Employment Status: Term-Time

Hours per week: Various

Salary: Level 1 $39.00 - $40.24 per hour (Casual Rate); $31.20 - $32.19 (Hourly Rate for Part-time or Full-time) (NB. pending qualifications; age based salary rates apply if under 18)

Your Role

Responsibilities

  • Grounds keeping: Mow, trim, fertilise lawns and turf areas. Repair and maintain irrigation systems. Weed, plant and fertilise gardens. Maintain grounds equipment. Check and adjust security lighting.
  • Maintenance: Assist with minor building maintenance as directed. Support contracts requiring access to school property or buildings. Carry out minor repairs to school property and equipment including: replacing tap washers, repairing leaking toilets, repairing windows, repairing desks and chairs and basic painting as directed.
  • Events: Assist with marking sporting fields and grounds. Assist with the setup and dismantling of tents and equipment related to school functions.
  • Safety: Assess equipment to determine if minor repairs are required. Assist with the completion and documentation of a variety of workplace health and safety tasks as required by the principal.

About You

We are seeking dedicated and customer service focussed individuals to maintain school grounds and gardens to a high standard within an educational setting. Applications are welcome from anyone who would support the school's ethos and possess the following are encouraged to apply:

  • Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to the role of Facilities Officer (Grounds) would be highly regarded
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential. We value individuals who are committed to continuous growth and are eager to learn and contribute to our educational communities.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
