About the School: St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Park Avenue, part of Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for students with significant feeding, mobility, toileting and personal hygiene requirements in a safe and dignified manner.
- Support student learning in individual and small group settings, assisting with learning needs under teacher supervision.
- Provide classroom support, including preparing and implementing learning activities and assisting with student participation.
- Build strong rapport with students, supporting their social, emotional and physical needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify and support students requiring additional assistance.
- Maintain student records and portfolios and support event and extracurricular activities.
Your Profile:
- Understanding of and a commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
- A genuine interest in supporting the learning and development of students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality in dealing with young people and their needs.
- The ability to work well either individually or collaboratively in a team and to accept direction and support.
- Genuine care for the wellbeing of students.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic educational setting.
- Experience in a similar role or working with children is desirable but not essential.
Mandatory Requirements:
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and a valid Suitability Notice.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
- Australian work rights.
