General Responsibilities

  • Supervise shelter operations and staff.
  • Manage facility, ensuring residents progress towards independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Respond to crisis line and provide crisis intervention, assessment, and referral.
  • Compile statistical reports and oversee data management for the shelter.
  • Collaborate with agencies, organizations, and church groups to deliver support services.
  • Manage shelter grant funds and ensure required documents are submitted for reimbursement.
  • Prepare and oversee shelter staff schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Ensure staff are knowledgeable of community resources and protocols for grant expenditures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, recruit, hire, train, and terminate employees as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and orderly facility, ensuring compliance with fire, health, and safety codes while ensuring the safety of staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Actively support and hold each supervised employee responsible for achieving their professional growth and development goals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Flexible work hours and a varied work schedule are required at times during evenings or weekends to ensure that client needs are met and shelter coverage is maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field with 3 years of related experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working with homeless and low-income persons.
  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures, family systems, and social backgrounds.
  • Understanding of program operational boundaries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passage of background clearance, TB test, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of liability insurance.
