Your Role

As Sawyer - Wood with us, you are a critical team member who operates saws and sets the pace for the entire production schedule and quality standards. You’ll oversee the processing of lumber into wood components using saws to meet production schedule. You’ll also perform basic maintenance and upgrades to saw machinery, such as changing the blades. You may be asked to perform housekeeping duties, like light sweeping and disposing of scrap foam/lumber or other miscellaneous items.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lumber and Plywood Cutting
  • Read production schedule, using computer production software. Read cut sheet instructions to make the correct cut.
  • Using cut sheet, determine the amount, size and grade of plywood or lumber.
  • Load plywood or lumber onto machine and have it cut using computerized production software. Machines include various saws such as panel saws, tiger saws, table saws, chop saws, circular saws, etc.

Strategic Production

  • Select jobs according to priority, log in and out of jobs with employee ID number.
  • Strategically makes cuts to reduce scrap.
  • Cuts at the same pace as assembly is assembling.

Safe and Efficient Facility Team Member

  • Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use. Follow all procedures and policies and know the equipment before using it.
  • Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
  • Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
  • Work together with other team members to accomplish tasks safely in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Prior experience operating power tools or machinery.
