Help people shape their own lives:
A good day looks different for each person we support. It might mean making a decision for themselves, building a friendship, learning something new or feeling confident enough to try again. We are looking for a Deputy Manager who notices these things and helps a team make them possible. Living for Tomorrow is Catholic Care’s service for adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. Our direction is clear: people move through life, not services. We want support to change with each person, keeping their wishes, relationships and aspirations at the centre of decisions. You will work alongside the Registered Manager, providing visible leadership and spending time with the people we support and the staff who know them. You will help colleagues understand what good support looks like in everyday practice, address concerns promptly and make sure agreed improvements happen.
What you will do:
- Help people have a real say in their support, with opportunities to develop independence and take part in community life.
- Lead by example, coach staff and use supervision to build confidence, reflect on practice and set clear expectations.
- Keep support safe and personal, with plans and records that reflect the person and guide staff in their work.
- Use feedback, observations and audit findings to improve people’s experiences and follow through on actions.
- Support safe staffing and responsible use of resources, and deputise for the Registered Manager within agreed responsibilities.
What you will bring:
You will have experience at senior level in supported living or residential care, including supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
You will be able to explain how your leadership has made a difference to someone’s life and helped colleagues improve their practice.
- An NVQ Level 3 in Care or an equivalent completed qualification.
- Experience of supervising staff, coordinating support and responding calmly to difficult situations.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding, person centred support and the quality standards expected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
- The confidence to listen, make decisions, challenge poor practice respectfully and ask for help when it is needed.
- The ability to use electronic records and other information to recognise concerns and improve support.
- A full, valid driving licence and the ability to travel between services.
A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management in Social Care, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable. The role includes participation in the on‑call rota and working flexibly to meet service needs.
What we offer:
You will join a charity where dignity and compassion guide our work, with regular supervision and personal development discussions to support you in your role.
- 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays for full‑time staff, with three additional days after five years’ service.
- A comprehensive induction, ongoing learning and opportunities for career progression.
- A group personal pension scheme, Healthcare Cash Plan and life insurance cover.
- Sick pay, Cycle to Work Scheme and Employee Referral Bonus Scheme.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to dignity, inclusion and the values of Catholic Care. You do not need to be Catholic to respect and work within our ethos.
Catholic Care is committed to safeguarding children and adults at risk. Appointment is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS disclosure.
