At Catherine Wayte Primary School, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, inclusive school with a positive ethos towards children, parents, carers and staff. We wish to appoint a confident and enthusiastic class teacher to work part-time (on a 2 or 3 day basis) in Upper Key Stage 2 from September 2026 for the period of one academic year.

Applicants must be, or aspire to be, outstanding teachers and will ideally have existing experience of working with Years 4-6. We are seeking applicants who are:

  • Confident teaching children across all year groups, with experience working in Upper Key Stage 2
  • Confident they have a secure understanding of the National Curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Secure in their subject knowledge of the National Curriculum with particular reference to English and Mathematics
  • Able to positively promote inclusion and have high expectations for all children
  • Confident teachers who demonstrate high expectations of both children’s achievement and behaviour for all
  • Energetic, warm and caring
  • Passionate about learning and demonstrate a desire to research and find out more in order to improve their own practice
  • Able to work creatively using our exciting and engaging curriculum as a starting point
  • Committed to the safeguarding and welfare of our children
  • Flexible, with a strong commitment to teamwork
  • Organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Keen to share and develop professionally as an outstanding, skilled teacher

Applicants must be able to build good relationships with children and parents whilst supporting and extending learning. Experience of planning sequences of lessons which carefully build skills and subject knowledge, and assessing children’s learning are essential. Excellent communication skills, along with the ability to use initiative and work independently, are crucial. Confidence in liaising with parents, colleagues and other professionals is necessary.
