Role Overview:

Cathedral Studios seeks a skilled VFX Artist with strong communication skills and high levels of initiative to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining stunning real-time visual effects for a continuously growing Unreal Engine game. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for problem-solving, creating immersive visual experiences, and a love of collaboration. As a VFX Artist at Cathedral Studios, you will play a critical role in the company—crafting breath-taking visual effects alongside your peers and influencing the creative direction of your department..

We are looking for a VFX Artist with a strong understanding of Unreal Engine's Niagara system, material editor, and VFX pipelines. A background in 3D software and experience with performance optimization for PC games is a plus, as well as a love for game design itself. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver captivating effects that bring the game's world to life.

Ideal level of experience: Intermediate or higher

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the programming and art teams to ensure seamless integration of VFX into gameplay.
  • Efficiently manage and prioritize tasks to meet the studio's build release schedules.
  • Design and implement real-time visual effects using Unreal Engine's Niagara and Material Editor.
  • Contribute to the visual design of the game with critical thinking and open-minded ideation.
  • Collaborate with other team members on VFX pipelines, balancing workload and creative ideas.
  • Prototype, iterate, and polish visual effects that enhance gameplay and narrative experiences.
