This role requires an enthusiastic Ophthalmic Technician to join a growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at a modern and state-of-the-art ophthalmic eye clinic/hospital which provides the highest standards of care.

The role involves:

  • Carrying out preliminary scans with patients to include Biometry, topography, auto-refractor, IOP measurements prior to seeing the Consultant or Optometrist.
  • Measuring visual acuity as appropriate.
  • Making patients feel welcome and creating an environment where they feel comfortable and cared for.
  • Displaying professionalism, integrity and honesty in all encounters with patients and staff in accordance with the company ethos.
  • Working alongside our onsite Optometrists to triage patients.
  • Demonstrating contact lens insertion and removal.
  • Performing visual field testing.
  • Responding to enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring clinics are well coordinated and run efficiently at both Academy Street site and other sites as required by the clinic.
  • Maintaining accurate paper and electronic patient records.
  • Administrative duties including stock checks and order placing.
  • Occasionally assisting at corporate events off-site, working alongside an Optometrist/Nurse.
  • Assisting Consultants with minor ops and intravitreal injections in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Working as part of a close-knit multi-disciplinary team of other Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Nurses and Admin staff.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including maths and English language.
  • Passionate about high quality patient safety and care.
  • Excellent communication skills and good time management skills.
  • Positive can-do attitude, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Preferably experience in working within Optometry or an Ophthalmic hospital setting. However, all training will be provided in-house.
